5 Tips to Help You Get into a Consistent Workout Routine

Working out is something that many people love to talk about, but very few actually enjoy doing. Even though you set out on your journey at times, it seems like one step forward, two steps back. Sound familiar? Do you find yourself finding reasons not to work out or exercising inconsistently? If so, don’t worry because this blog post is for you! We are going to discuss five tips that will help with getting into a consistent workout routine.

1. Start with Mini Workouts

Start with mini workouts if you’re having trouble getting started. Mini workouts can be as simple as walking for 10 minutes or doing 1 set of stairs at your favorite park. These short and sweet exercises will help you get your body moving and blood flowing. Once you have completed a few mini workouts, you will feel more energized and motivated to continue your workout routine and maybe even add to it.

2. Trim Down Your Goals

When you are starting a new workout routine, it is important to trim down your goals. Consider what’s the ideal body weight and don’t try to do too much at once because this will only set you up for failure. Start small by committing to working out one to three times a week. Once you have been consistent with your workouts for a few weeks, add an extra day or two. Eventually, you will be able to work out every day if that is your goal!  Think about how you really want to move your body in your lifestyle, not what you think you should be doing.

3. Adopt a “Go with the Flow” Attitude

Don’t get discouraged if you can’t always stick to your scheduled workout routine. Life happens, and sometimes our plans change last minute. When you have an unforeseen routine change, adopt a “go with the flow” attitude. There is no need to stress out over something that is beyond your control. Just make up for it by working out a little bit harder or longer the next time you are able to work out.  You could also add another workout for your next week.

4. Find a Workout Partner

Working out with someone can be extremely motivating and helpful when trying to get into a consistent routine. Women are social creaters and theres nothing like a great dish sesh while sweating it out.  When you have someone relying on you, you will less likely skip your workout. Working out with a friend is always more fun, plus, it makes the time go by faster.

5. Create a Playlist

Music is a perfect way to get pumped up for a workout. Create a playlist of your favorite songs that will help you get into the groove. It will be easier to stick to your routine if you have something to look forward to, like your favorite song.  Group exercise, like Jazzercise or Farm Girl Fit, often includes music to keep you motivated.  What’s better than dancing your way through a workout?
