Obesity is a chronic illness that is multifactorial and comprised of environmental, biological, and genetic etiologies. If we don’t treat the root causes of the psychological habits, change will not be sustainable. Patients must be able to commit for a minimum 6-month course of treatment and understand this is a lifelong disease. Referrals provided for mental health support.Medication Management
Lifestyle change begins with behavior modification, however, some patients need more. We offer medication management with pharmacotherapeutics and ensure current medications are not contributing to weight gain. I work closely with endocrine and gastrointestinal specialists as needed to ensure the gut-brain axis is at optimum performance. I follow the most up to date guidelines for medication management.Remote Monitoring
Patients receive multiple body metric monitors, including connected blood pressure cuffs, scales, and activity trackers. Collection and analysis of the patient’s progress drives care plan adjustments. Patients are shown data trends to explained predictive resistance points and help them understand their own body. Diabetics also receive connected glucometers if not already using one.Collaborative Care
Weight loss is not a siloed approach because obesity affects every body part. I work to ensure I am easy to refer and collaborate with. If I cannot achieve the weight loss needed to improve your patient’s health outcome, I will refer to bariatric surgery. Throughout your patient’s journey, I send care summaries at regular intervals. Consultation on resistant or difficult patients is always welcome.
